I was recently summoned out of my warm shower to “hurry up and come look in the pool!”
So of course I quickly finished my shower, threw on some clothes, grabbed Cutie Pie and headed down to the pool.
What did I find there?
A Snake.
To be more specific, a Southern Ringneck Snake
Yes, I now know these sort of things thanks to: my array of field guides, the internet and my children who obsess about these sorts of things.
If you had told me 6 years ago that I would end up being the sort of mother who jumps out of her shower (car, golf cart etc.) to quickly catch a snake (grasshopper, moth, insect, turtle, frog, toad, etc.) I would have told you FLAT OUT that you are C-R-A-Z-Y
Oh, how times have changed…and don’t think I’m not loving every second of it.
Pictured above: Lubber Grasshopper, Rat Snake, Praying Mantids w/ egg case, Florida softshell turtle, Peninsula Cooter, tadpoles & froglets.

Oh I’m the same way! EVERYTHING becomes a learning experience.
Love all the pictures of the creatures! I’m going to show this to Taylor, she’ll love it!
You are one cool mom!
isn’t that fun! you’ve got some great pictures.
