One of the perks of having a Daddy who is a road warrior is that your Daddy tends to know someone in virtually every state and major city you could visit in the United States. That was certainly the case on our recent trip to Austin, Texas.
We were all in for a treat when we visited this enormous working cattle ranch. Mr. and Mrs. L treated us to a nice lunch, a tour of some of their property, and a chance to hunt for fossils and authentic Indian arrowheads on their property.
One (prized) arrowhead would have been nice but our gracious and extremely generous hosts sent the kids home with a bag full!
I plan on asking grandpa to make a display case for them before the end of the year.
(hint, hint)
All of the children came home with arrowheads and a few pieces of flint while Bear also managed to find a buffalo tooth fossil which he considers his big prize of the day.
It was a great way to spend an afternoon in Texas.
The kids didn’t want to leave!
We are going to work on some thank-you cards for our gracious Texas hosts this week.
And yes, it will count as Handwriting for the boys, Art for Pumpkin and Life Skills for all three!
