The Great Backyard Bird Count started today. If you aren’t familiar with what it is, it is basically an annual 4-day event for birdwatchers of all ages to join together (with scientists and other bird enthusiasts) in counting and observing birds to create a real-time snapshot of birds across the continent. Even if you think you cannot possibly squeeze one more thing into your homeschool day—this takes only 15 minutes a day—or can be for as long as you wish.
To participate first print out your regional checklist.
Then submit your bird checklist using the blank data form.
Print a certificate of participation and present it to your little naturalists at the end of the count.
If you are participating you can share your activities and observations with us by either commenting or linking to your actual posts (not just your blog url) below.
