I’ve gone round and around trying to find the best system that works for me for my lesson plans. Finally, I’ve found a system that seems to work for me.
Step One:
Create a weekly teaching schedule.
Step Two:
Outline the lessons by subject. This allows me to cross off each subject’s lessons as we do it. This seemed more flexible and less overwhelming for me than using a traditional lesson planner which groups all the subjects together for each day. This way, I can plan out my lessons for each subject without worrying about whether or not I’ve chosen the correct day to have my lessons on. I also can move ahead more slowly when it requires, or quickly if we choose. The only potential downside, is that you have to flip through several sections of your binder each day as you cover each subject. This doesn’t bother me though. That’s what the handy tabs are for, right?
