We recently had Miss Laurie Lynn out to speak to our co-op about what life was like for Florida Pioneers. It was a wonderful experience for our students and an eye opening one for the mothers. I don’t think any of us would have enjoyed being a Florida Pioneer! These were the tools available for laundry and ironing…
This hands-on presentation allowed the children to not only see what materials the early Pioneers had, but also touch and use them. For some of the students, it was exhausting work!
One of the activities we did was make butter from cream. It took almost the entire presentation to make butter and though it was delicious, there wasn’t much of it!
Mrs. Tenkely says
Looks like fun! I did this when I was a kid. I remember eating the butter we made on saltine crackers…best butter I have ever had!
